As an entry level video maker with every intention of upgrading my camera periodically, a universal camera cage was a no-brainer, even though there are a number of cages designed specifically for my camera (Sony ZV E10 II). However, when I bought a “universal” cage from another manufacturer, I quickly found that their cage would not adequately support my desired setup, and I almost abandoned that rationale. I am so glad I did another search and found the Fathom One cage. Because of my prior negative experience with universal cages, before ordering I sent a query to Fathom regarding comparability with my camera and goal usage. The initial reply took a few days, which I later found out was because Fathom founder and owner Sam is himself a videographer and was working on location. The wait was well worth it, as the ensuing email conversation quickly revealed his passion for the industry and his familiarity with a multitude of camera makes and models. He heard out my goals, and was able to provide assurances that the Fathom One cage would definitely service my current as well as future needs. He even was willing to perform some custom after- market mods, which included creating a spacer for under my camera, to better center it within the frame of the cage, as well as make me a custom cable clamp to help save my HDMI port. I am absolutely thrilled with the end result and can’t imagine going back to operating my camera without the Fathom One. The added stability from the cold shoe mount makes the cage feel like a rigid extension of the camera itself, and the machined aluminum is oh-so satisfying to hold. It also pairs beautifully with a camera plate for seamless mounting on my tripod. Furthermore, this cage has been strategically designed to allow maximum accessibility to camera ports and controls-so much so that I have not needed to remove my camera from the cage once since the initial install. This is an exceptionally designed and very well crafted product which I am confident will last a lifetime or longer. The build quality and functionality of this cage make it a great value for the cost. Fathom’s camera equipment knowledge and customer service are absolutely superlative. Questions were always thoughtfully answered, and they followed up after delivery to make sure I did not have any additional needs. Even the packaging was thoughtfully designed to avoid unnecessary plastic. I would absolutely order this product again, and I’m extremely proud to buy tech related equipment from an American company who builds in the USA.

A great investment! As a shooter/producer, the versatility & accessibility this offers has really upped my handheld shooting capabilities. I mainly use this on my Sony A7sii but occasionally put on the Black Magic pocket 4K which is a nice bonus that it can fit both! For the A7sii, I love that I can reconfigure it to fit the Sony XLR hot shoe audio mixer w/out using an extender and still fit a top handle. A real game changer for skeleton teams & one-person bands.
